Call of Duty: World at War Ripoff edition
Lazy Sunday afternoon sat around looking for good prices to preorder games at I come across this. Intrigued by the price of £59.99, I Googled around looking for what this could possibly contain. I stumbled across this. So for an extra £20 compared to the standard edition you get, a COD: World at War branded canteen, FG 42 Machine Gun unlock (Usually a Level 45 weapon), a week of double XP and a coloured clan tag plus a metal tin. I also find the picture in the link humorous as they put the disk and manual on show to pad it out.
Now in the USA it costs $79.99, which Google informs me “79.99 U.S. dollars = 46.1916036 British pounds” which is almost £14 cheaper, another example of ripoff UK or are Game planning something extra, unlikely.
I usually have an interest in Special/Collectors Editions but this one just doesn’t appeal to me, especially not at that price. Sure the case and canteen are nice little extras to add to your collection but for that price, it’s hard to justify, perhaps it’s easier for the Americans. The gun you will get if you play for long enough anyway, providing you don’t quit in annoyance before hand due the that fact people with too much time on their hands are already at top rank because of double XP for a week, unlocking better guns and perks faster. Hopefully the rock, paper, scissors nature of perks that even people in the low ranks have can help counteract this. Coloured clan tag? Doesn’t interest me in the slightest seeing as I gave up on clans years ago.
Giving fools with too much money an advantage over either poorer people or people with common sense, nice…, ruin the game, I’m sure though it will eventually even out over time. Of course exception is made to die hard fans in this.
